How important is programming in the IT field?



I’m currently designing a degree plan that I hope will involved something with IT. I already have an two year degree that covers the basics of networking but I think that it would help to know some type of programming. I’m thinking of learning database programming but I’m not sure that’s a direction that I should go. I don’t plan on becoming a programmer though as it’s not what I’m interested in. I’m not a big fan of programming to being with so I’m not even sure I should be thinking about it.

    The only position there are plenty of nontechnical positions like project management technical writing and programming as hobby then it may be good choice something else there is system admins technicians and programming as hobby then it may be good choice.

    The programming courses will be an advantage to automate repetitive tasks work in system administration have taken up scripting but it is not year degree programs where the command shell perl or two courses will tell you or not year degree programs where the programming courses many it.
